THE SINGLE, BIGGEST CAUSE OF FATAL ACCIDENTS IN ALL INDUSTRIES IS FALLING FROM HEIGHT. 

TWO THIRDS OF FALLS ARE FROM BELOW TWO METRES!

 

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 were developed with the aim of regulating this type of work thereby reducing this unacceptable statistic.

This one day course is designed to provide attendees with the required knowledge to enable them to use work equipment, which has been provided for working at heights, in a safe manner.

Who should attend the course?
The course has been developed for anyone who needs to work at height when carrying out their daily tasks.  This would include personnel from all industries i.e. construction, engineering, retail, etc.

The people who would benefit from this course would include: Foremen, Supervisors and employees.

Course Aims
To give attendees a basic knowledge of the legislation governing work at heights as well as the safety aspects of using various types of equipment for working at height.

Training Methods
The course will include tutorials and syndicate exercises culminating in a confirmation test.

    The Health & Safety at Work Act
    The Work at Height Regulations
    PUWER

Safety in the use of working platforms:
    Scaffolding
    Mobile towers
    Mobile elevating work platforms
    Ladders and stepladders
    Hop-ups

Fall arrest / restraint equipment:
    Choosing
    Inspections
    Anchors

Assessment
All persons attending the course will be required to pass a multiple choice test paper prior to completing.

Certification
All successful particpants will receive an attendance certificate from Akeva.
